At ease

Yes, yes, I know. Still no art updates, I'm sorry. If you're patient and interested enough to read through all this journal there's a surprise somewhere inside though.

Anyway, army. Not allowed to say much about it, so I won't, just to keep it on the safe side. Those of you who already knew where I'm serving, I'm still there. Those who don't, you can be sure that it's one of the best places you can go to. Just in case any of you care are worried, I'm not in any combat units so the chances I'd die from a falling anvil are far greater than me getting shot in a war or something. Of course that doesn't mean that life's that easy. The food is just nowhere near my mother's cooking, you're completely disconnected from the world until the late evening when you already have to go to bed, 6 hours of sleep a day at best is horrible when you have to study about 14 of the remaining 18, and getting to go home only on Fridays just to go back there early Sunday - which leaves me absolutely no time for having a life outside the base or the bed in the accommodations they offer except for those weekends. I'm always too damn homesick and I miss my family, my friends and of course my love. Although, I can't just complain. I got my uniform, not that it's that important to me, but people say I look great in it. Most importantly Naama loves it, so nyeh. Other than that the people serving with me are awesome. I've never fit in anywhere as well as I have there in such a short period of time. And more importantly the sergeants, officers and staff are incredible, talented and intelligent people, so I must admit that I do enjoy it there despite all the downsides the army brings with it.

As far as art goes, I decided to take my sketchbook with me when so I could spend my spare time on drawing. Just a little something to keep me sane you might say. Not that I really have that much spare time, but better than nothing. Perhaps if I can find someone that'd scan it for me I'd put some of my sketches and drawings here in the weekends. But that's not all! I've also been working on a digital painting for a while now. Going to have it printed and give it as a gift to my girlfriend for our 6 month anniversary. Seeing as I barely get to see her nowadays with the army, I figure I should at least leave her something to remember me by, so why not really put some effort in it, right? Speaking of Naama, things have been going great between us so far. A few bumps here and there, but nothing serious or out of the ordinary. I've made lots of mistakes about judging people, mostly because I tried to ignore all the little hints suggesting that they're douche bags , but I believe that this time I'm right. She really is a great person, and not only on the outside, a quality that's hard to find these days. I guess I should just be grateful for her tolerance of my obnoxious behaviour and the recent, and probably future, lack of presence. Lets hope that I won't end up on the receiving end of a breakup... Again.

Anyway, earlier I mentioned I'm home only on the weekends. So what the hell am I doing online on a Tuesday morning? Well, Jewish new year. I'm on holiday till Thursday, and then back to the base for a couple of days until the weekend. So for all you Jewish folks out there, shana tova, for the rest of you happy whatever-day-you're-celebrating-in-the-near-future!
